Foreign Adviser Touhid Hossain has called upon the OIC member states to contribute to the funding of the ongoing legal proceedings against Myanmar at the International Court of Justice (ICJ), as well as to provide humanitarian assistance for the Rohingyas residing in Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char.

"Due to insufficient funding, humanitarian assistance for the Rohingyas living in Cox's Bazar and Bhasan Char has also been disrupted. Humanitarian aid for the Rohingyas in Bangladesh is declining alarmingly," he said.

Touhid addressed a session titled, "Human rights violation against the Rohingya", at the foreign minister-level conference of the Organisation for Islamic Cooperation in Istanbul, Turkey today.

Currently, more than a million Rohingya are sheltered in Bangladesh, most of whom fled a military campaign in Myanmar's Rakhine state.

The influx continues as the Myanmar military and rebel group Arakan Army have been embroiled a in civil war since the military takeover in 2021.

In 2025, donors provided only 21 percent of the required $934 million for the Rohingya and host community.

Touhid said due to the funding shortfall, Unicef shut down its education programme from June 3.
