Two Rohingya youths from Thayet Oak village in northern Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State, were abducted by the Arakan Army (AA) on 28 May, according to local sources.

The abductees have been identified as Mohammed Ares, 21, son of Mohammed Ayub, and Ali Ahmad, 23.

A resident told Arakan Now that they are good people with no links to any armed groups and that the AA took them without any reason.

Family members said they have not received any information regarding the youths’ whereabouts or condition since they were taken.

The AA continues abducting people in Northern Rakhine, leaving residents fearful and insecure about their safety.
