Among those taken is Mohamed Ayas, a 12-year-old child and son of Kamal Husein from Dun Shan Ywar hamlet.
Local residents said he was abducted by the Arakan Army along with 13 other Rohingya individuals, leaving families shocked and fearful. “The Arakan Army does not spare even underage children, conscripting them for military training,” residents said.
They further added that the child is currently being held at the AA’s base in Kwan Daing village, while his family remains in deep distress over his fate and safety.
Local observers and rights advocates warn that the forced conscription of underage children is considered a grave violation of international law, as the recruitment of children for military purposes is strictly prohibited under international humanitarian standards.
