The Arakan Army (AA) forcibly conscripted 14 Rohingya youths from Let Wea Daung Pyin Shey village tract in Buthidaung Township on 2 February 2026 and took them for military training, residents said.
Those taken included villagers from several hamlets in the tract. In Kyauk Hla Pyin Ywar hamlet, the individuals were identified as Mohamed Rahim, 25, son of Noor Hakim; Jani Alom, 21, son of Matakim; and Mohamed Hares, 18, son of Mohamed Miya.
In Htin Sha Pyin Ywar hamlet, those identified were Usman, 20, son of Abdul Ali; Mohamed Kaisal, 18, son of Anu Miya; Mohamed Zawmil, 23, son of Abul Husein; Mohamed Shobi, 18, son of Abdu Zawlil; and Mohamed Shohid, 18, son of Abdu Motalip. Rahamat Ullah, 48, son of Ali Husein, was also among those listed from the same hamlet.
From Dun Shan Ywar hamlet, Mohamed Shaker, 40, son of Nur Alom, was also among those taken.
The identities of the remaining four people have not yet been confirmed. Local monitors said communication disruptions and network blackouts are making verification difficult.
Residents said fear of abduction and forced conscription is driving daily departures from villages. Many families have already left, and departures are continuing.
Tensions remain high across Buthidaung Township, where residents fear further forced recruitment and displacement.
