Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) is establishing three specialized hepatitis C treatment centres within existing health facilities inside the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh. The initiative aims to provide care to 30,000 people by the end of 2026, significantly expanding MSF’s treatment programmes in response to alarmingly high rates of hepatitis C in the camps.
This campaign improves access to care for a stateless population particularly vulnerable to this curable yet potentially fatal disease.
The three new centres are part of a “test and treat” strategy that will cover an estimated one-third of all people living with hepatitis C in the camps.
Between October 2020 and December 2024, MSF treated more than 10,000 people for hepatitis C at its clinics in Jamtoli and at Hospital on the Hill.
