The Arakan Army (AA) detained two displaced Rohingya, a father and son, from Myaung Nah village in Buthidaung Township, Arakan, on 24 July.
Zalal Ahmed and his son had gone to a nearby mountain to search vegetables but did not return for days.
On 27 July, Zalal Ahmed’s son returned home alone.
“We were detained by the Arakan Army,” he told Arakan Now.
“They took us to unknown locations and kept us separated. I still don’t know where my father is.”
This incident came a day before the Arakan Army reportedly detained nearly 60 Rohingya civilians from paddy fields and farms in Sein Hnyin Pya and Tha Baik Taung villages of Buthidaung on 25 July.
