On 8 August 2025, the Arakan Army forcibly abducted Nuru, 40, son of Rashid, from Ward 1 in Buthidaung. According to family members, Nuru was taken without cause or explanation.
A relative of Nuru, speaking through tears, told Arakan Now:
“He has no political ties, no conflicts with anyone. He is an innocent, kind man. They just took him, and we don’t know why.”
Since his abduction, his family has been left devastated, not knowing where he is or what has happened to him. In Buthidaung, fear grips the streets.
Nuru’s disappearance is not an isolated incident — it is another painful reminder of the ongoing suffering faced by the Rohingya under the shadow of fear and oppression.
