AA Confiscates Dr. Kamal’s Three-Story Building in Maungdaw Townshipto Open Jury Office

In Maungdaw Township, the Arakan Army (AA) has seized a three-story building owned by Dr. Hla Myint (also known as Kamal) in Myoma East Ward, near the Clock Tower. According to a resident from Maungdaw, AA leaders plan to use the building as a local jury office under their administration.

The building was reportedly sealed off on April 12. On April 25, AA’s Deputy Political Chief and several members allegedly removed valuable items, including medical equipment, furniture, and construction materials, transporting them by truck toward Buthidaung Township.

AA has also reportedly formed a jury committee, including Rohingya members, as part of its effort to expand influence in the region.

Eyewitnesses from Maungdaw told Arakan Now that AA members have looted several Rohingya homes and shops during their control of the area.

Locals say the widespread looting has left the Rohingya community in Maungdaw devastated and struggling to rebuild.
