According to Chindwin News Agency, despite the ongoing political crisis in Myanmar, the Trump Administration has deported 22 Myanmar nationals back to their country.

According to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security, these individuals—some of whom held permanent residency and some U.S. citizenship—have active criminal convictions.

Recently, the Department said that Myanmar’s situation has changed, pointing to the junta’s announcement of upcoming elections this month and next as a sign of improvement.

Based on these developments, the Trump Administration has started deporting people in the United States who are facing legal issues, marking an important step in its immigration policy during changing international conditions.

Some political analysts say the move may be linked to the junta regime’s hiring of a Washington-based lobbying firm with strong ties to the Republican Party and several well-known figures in the Trump Administration.
