Rohingya Students Association in Türkiye, Türkiye’deki Arakanlı Öğrenciler Birliği (TAÖB), met officials from Presidency for Turks Abroad and Related Communities (YTB) in Ankara to request a higher quota for Rohingya students under the Türkiye Scholarships program.
During the meeting, TAÖB representatives raised concerns about limited access to higher education and outlined academic and financial barriers affecting Rohingya students in Türkiye.
“For Rohingya youth, access to higher education is nearly impossible, leaving the community without the opportunity to develop advocates who can speak for their people and help shape a better future,” TAÖB representatives said. “Investing in the education of Rohingya youth is one of the most meaningful and effective steps toward a sustainable solution to the Rohingya crisis.”
The association formally asked YTB to expand scholarship allocations for Rohingya applicants, saying demand exceeds available places and leaves some qualified candidates without support.
