Rohingya man injured in landmine blast near Ukhiya border

A Rohingya man was critically injured in a landmine explosion near the Anjuman Para border area in Ukhiya, Cox’s Bazar.


According to The Business Standard, the incident happened around 12:45pm on March 26, citing Lieutenant Colonel Zahirul Islam, commander of the Ukhiya-64 Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) battalion.


The injured, Mohammad Shahidul, 25, is a resident of Rohingya Camp No. 16 in Ukhiya. He sustained severe injuries, including the loss of his right ankle.


Officials said he had gone near the Naf River close to the border when the explosion occurred.


Local people took him to a nearby hospital before he was transferred to Cox’s Bazar District Sadar Hospital for further treatment.
