The Myanmar Hindu Union (MHU) has condemned abuses by Myanmar’s military and expressed support for international justice efforts, saying accountability is necessary to achieve peace in the country.

In a statement dated 31 January 2026, the group said it believes in peaceful coexistence among all religions and ethnic communities in Myanmar. It voiced full support for the cases concerning Myanmar at the International Court of Justice (ICJ).

“We fully support the cases at the ICJ related to Myanmar and all efforts to take effective action against those who committed war crimes,” the statement said.

The union said genuine peace can only be reached when justice is properly delivered. It also rejected violence against civilians by any armed group, including killings, mistreatment, and other attacks.

Citing Hindu teachings, the statement said harming any living being goes against religious and moral principles.

“We will continue to stand with the ICJ so that perpetrators are punished and victims receive justice in line with the court’s decisions,” it said.

The group also warned that supporting or cooperating with a military involved in violence damages peace and justice, and it condemned such actions. It added that it believes justice will ultimately prevail.
