The United Council of Rohingya (UCR) has announced a key leadership transition as part of its rotational governance system, marking a new chapter in the organization’s collective leadership structure.

Under UCR’s established policy, five leaders serve in rotation, each holding the presidency for a six-month term. In line with this framework, MV. Mr. Sayed Ullah has concluded his tenure as Acting President, having served from 23 October 2025 to 23 April 2026.

A formal Responsibility Handover Ceremony was held on 23 April 2026 at the UCR office. The process was conducted transparently and in the presence of designated witnesses, ensuring accountability and adherence to organizational procedures. During the ceremony, all presidential duties, authority, and responsibilities were officially transferred in accordance with UCR’s governance policies.

Following the transition, Mr. Jahangir Alam has assumed the role of Acting President for the second leadership term, effective 23 April 2026. As the second member of the UCR President Panel, he takes office with the full backing of the council’s executive members.

The organization reaffirmed its commitment to serving the Rohingya community through unity, integrity, and collective leadership. UCR also expressed appreciation for Mr. Sayed Ullah’s contributions during his tenure and welcomed Mr. Jahangir Alam as he begins his term.

The announcement has been issued for the information of UCR members, partners, stakeholders, and the wider community.
