The Bangladesh Coast Guard has seized a large quantity of fertiliser, medicines, and daily food while they were being smuggled to Rakhine State. Two people were arrested during the operation.
According to Coast Guard Media Officer Lieutenant Commander Siam-ul-Haq, the seizure was made during a special operation early Wednesday morning. Acting on intelligence, a Coast Guard Team conducted a raid around 1:00 am in the sea area near Nazirartek in Cox's bazar.
During the operation, Coast Guard members searched a fishing boat and recovered 88 bags of urea fertiliser worth of about TK 850,000, along with a larger amount of medicines and essential goods. The items were being transported illegally to Rakhine State without paying customs duties.
