Arakan Army Forced Video Testimonies from Families of Killed Rohingya Men in Tha Yet Oke

The Arakan Army forced families of killed Rohingya men to record video testimonies in Tha Yet Oke village, Maungdaw Township, according to local residents.


Two Rohingya men, identified as Mohammed Younus, 19, son of Boshir Ahmed, and Mohammed Salam, 22, son of Abdul Amin, were reportedly killed after being arrested by the Arakan Army on 27 March 2026.


Several days later, villagers said they recovered the bodies floating in a nearby stream and buried them.


Residents told Arakan Now that on 2 April, a group of Arakan Army members entered the village, summoned residents, and threatened them not to speak publicly about the incident. Villagers said they were forced to state that Rohingya armed groups were responsible for the killings.


Residents also reported that Arakan Army members, accompanied by villagers, went to the burial site and ordered the graves to be dug up. Photographs of the bodies were taken before the remains were reburied, after which the group left the area.


On 3 April, Arakan Army members, accompanied by Rohingya individuals working with them, reportedly returned to Tha Yet Oke village and summoned the families of the victims, including the village heads of Mohammed Salam and Mohammed Younus, as well as Mamu Rashid and Arif.


Villagers said the families were forced to record video testimonies stating that the Arakan Army was not responsible for the killings and that Rohingya armed groups were to blame. They added that the families were threatened in various ways.


Residents further said that the two men were killed by Arakan Army members based in Ywet Nyo Toung village.
