The Arakan Army abducted three Rohingya girls for conscription on 25 February 2026 from WaYa Chaung village tract, Doe Don village, in Buthidaung Township, according to local sources.
A resident told Arakan Now that the girls had left Buthidaung due to fear of conscription. While fleeing to Bangladesh through Maungdaw, they were intercepted by AA members and taken back to Buthidaung Township, where they are reportedly being held at an AA base. Their identities are currently unknown. Arakan Now will update this report as more information becomes available.
Residents added that families are now desperately hiding their daughters and sons out of fear of conscription.
“In recent days, people have been fleeing their homes, leaving everything behind,” the resident said.
Another resident expressed deep concern about the future of the Rohingya population in the area.
“I don’t think there will be any Rohingya left soon if this situation continues,” a resident told Arakan Now.
Local sources say that forced recruitment and abductions have increased in recent weeks in Rohingya villages in Buthidaung Township, leading to further displacement and fear among the remaining population.
Arakan Now continues to monitor the situation closely.
