The Arakan Army reportedly abducted three Rohingya girls from WaYa Chaung village in Buthidaung Township on 18 February, local sources told Arakan Now.

Two of the victims have been identified: Minara, the daughter of Hallu, and an unnamed daughter of Rahmat Ullah. The identity of the third girl remains unknown.

According to villagers, the girls were taken from their homes without warning and are currently being held at the AA’s base in Kwan Daung village.

Residents reported that Minara had married just two days earlier, on 16 February, and was abducted from her father-in-law’s house on 18 February.

“They force them to wear shorts during training and subject them to other uncomfortable practices,” one resident said. “There are also rumours that the girls are being sexually abused.”

Local sources say that forced recruitment and abductions have increased in recent weeks in Rohingya villages in Buthidaung Township, leading to further displacement and fear among the remaining population.

Arakan Now continues to monitor the situation closely.
