Arakan Army Abducts a Rohingya Man in Maungdaw Township

The Arakan Army abducted Maulana Mohamed Kawbir, son of Abdul Karim, on 17 April 2026 from Kyet Yoe Pyin village in northern Maungdaw Township, according to local sources.
A resident told Arakan Now that he had previously been abducted by the Arakan Army and detained for approximately seven to eight months before being released.
On 17 April, a group of Arakan Army intelligence officers from Boli Bazar arrived, surrounded the village, and abducted him again, accusing him of having connections with armed groups. He was then taken to a base in Boli Bazar.
His current whereabouts and condition remain unknown, raising concerns among local residents about his safety.
