The Arakan Army abducted Mohamed Usman 20-year-old Rohingya youths and son of Mohamed Islam, on the morning of 14 February 2026, around 8:00 a.m., from WaYa Kyaung village in Buthidaung Township, according to local reports.

A resident told Arakan Now that the victim is originally from Ward 2 in Buthidaung Township. Due to fears of conscription and abduction, he has been planning to flee to Yangon with his family. Before departing for Yangon, they temporarily stayed in WaYa Kyaung village for a few days. Unfortunately, the Arakan Army abducted him before he could leave for Yangon.

He further added that according to rumours, the youth was sent directly for six months military training.

Residents said fear of abduction and forced conscription is driving daily departures from villages. Many families have already left, and departures are ongoing.

Tensions remain high across Buthidaung Township, where residents fear further forced recruitment and displacement.
