The Arakan Army (AA) has reportedly forced young Rohingya women in Maungdaw and Buthidaung townships into military service, sparking fear and anxiety among local communities.
According to local sources, on October 6, AA authorities gathered residents at the Maungdaw administrative office and demanded that 50 unmarried women from Maungdaw and another 50 from Buthidaung be enlisted for military duties.
Families say they are under extreme pressure to comply, fearing reprisals if they refuse due to the AA’s armed control over the region.
The move has raised deep concern among residents and rights observers, who warn of the serious impact on women and the growing insecurity faced by Rohingya communities under AA administration.
