At least 300 Rohingya are reportedly waiting in Ferenfaru village on the eastern bank of the Naf River to cross into Bangladesh, according to reliable sources cited by Jamuna TV.
The sources said that a group of 41 Rohingya, split into two smaller groups, traveled from Buthidaung town earlier on 3 September and are now sheltering in four houses in the village. On 2 September, around 200 other Rohingya reportedly gathered in the same area in preparation for the crossing.
Reports indicate that the Arakan Army (AA) is not preventing people from leaving Arakan. Instead, they are allegedly charging money to facilitate travel to Bangladesh.
Sources added that boats typically approach Bangladeshi waters between 8 and 9 p.m., anchoring overnight in the Naf River before attempting the crossing at dawn if conditions are favorable. Bangladeshi brokers then reportedly assist arrivals in reaching safe locations.
