Military Junta Arrests 28 Rohingya Fishermen and Seizes 3 Fishing Boats in Pauktaw Township

It has been reported that the military junta's navy arrested 28 Rohingya fishermen from Sintetmaw village in Pauktaw Township, Rakhine State, along with three fishing boats, on 22 December.
The fishermen were reportedly searching for fish in the open sea between Pauktaw and Sittwe when two military navy vessels from Kyaukphyu Township intercepted and detained them.
According to Western News, eyewitness fishermen stated that the 28 Rohingya fishermen and the three fishing boats were taken to Kyaukphyu Township by the military navy vessels.
The arrested fishermen are: Abu Kalam (16), Adulhabat (17), Amanullah (17), Lalu (18), Hobair (20), Mohammed (21), Mohammed Ansar (22), Upan (23), Robi (25), Mohammed Noor (25), Bakair (27), Muhidin (27), Haron (28), Noziraman (30), Nurolauk (30), Nuramin (30), Mathaung (30), Dolla (30), Adukorim (33), Matthau Yawt (35), Chuku (37), Mathun (38), Adurothawt (40), Nasir (45), Kasein (50), Ayub (50), Rofi (50), and Adulauk (50).
Pauktaw Township is currently under the control of the Arakan Army, and local residents rely on individual fishing in the open sea for their livelihoods.
Local residents report that the military junta's navy is unlawfully arresting innocent civilians fishing at sea, confiscating money, detaining them illegally, and falsely accusing them of having ties with the Arakan Army.
