No discussions have taken place regarding a humanitarian corridor to Myanmar's Rakhine, and Bangladesh has not made any agreement or understanding on this matter, said National Security Adviser Khalilur Rahman today (4 May), reports Jamuna TV.
"Contact has been made with the Arakan Army regarding a humanitarian aid corridor via Bangladesh to Rakhine. The United Nations (UN) will manage this. "Relief and food will be transported through this corridor, not weapons," he said at a seminar on the Rohingya issue.
Khalilur said this communication will help establish a safer situation in Rakhine. "Bangladesh respects Myanmar's sovereignty, and Bangladesh has no desire to destabilise the country," he added.
Regarding the Rohingya issue, the national security adviser said Rohingyas will definitely return home one day. "Even though it won't be easy, the government will make it happen."
