The Arakan Army (AA) detained several Rohingya families in Oo Sha Kya Village, located in northern Maungdaw Township, Rakhine State.
According to local sources, around 200 AA fighters entered the village early in the morning. They surrounded the entire area and said they were looking for members of the ARSA armed group.
AA members went house to house. They checked family lists, looked at photos, and questioned all villagers. During the search, they forced everyone—including women and children—to leave their homes.
Villagers said they were taken to a paddy field and held under the hot sun from 8 a.m. until after 2 p.m. They were not given food or water during this time.
After the search, AA members arrested at least 10 family members. The rest were later released.
Eyewitnesses said some villagers were beaten and mistreated by the fighters.
This incident was first reported by Arakan Now on May 1. The report described in detail how the AA entered the village and treated the residents.
