BGB Detains Five Myanmar Security Personnel for Illegal Border Crossing

Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has detained five members of Myanmar’s security forces for illegally crossing the border and taking refuge in Bangladesh through the Naikhongchhari frontier in Bandarban.


They were detained on Sunday afternoon in the Monjoy Para area near border pillar 42 in Naikhongchhari upazila. According to sources, one of the detainees is a member of the Myanmar army, while the remaining four belong to the Border Guard Police (BGP).


The detainees have been identified as Myanmar army member Min Min Oo, 42, and BGP members Kyaw Zaw Lin, 32; Aung San Tha, 32; Shwe Thura, 38; and Khak Hsin, 35.


Colonel Md. Mohiuddin, sector commander of the BGB in Cox’s Bazar, said that the five individuals were detained for illegal intrusion and that further steps would be taken after interrogation.
