Camp-6 in the Rohingya refugee camps in Cox’s Bazar, Bangladesh, has introduced a major change in its leadership structure, replacing the long-standing Majhi system with a new committee-based model. According to Khin Maung, a Panel President of the United Council Rohang (UCR), the Camp-in-Charge (CiC), Gazisharif, has discontinued the practice of having one Majhi per block and has instead formed a five-member committee representing different groups within the camp.

"The committee will now take over the duties that the Majhis used to perform," he said.

Khin Maung praised the CiC’s leadership, calling it a “wonderful initiative to change the camp management system.”

"I personally agree with and support this initiative. He has created an example for others. It will truly be helpful for the people of the camps," he added.

The CiC also invited the UCR to attend the launch meeting, and a UCR delegation participated and presented during the session.

Khin Maung said the new model could reduce corruption and improve management across all camps. He noted that UCR is ready to support the CiC and relevant authorities to ensure smooth implementation if the system is expanded.
